Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup sour cream

1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans) (optional)

1 cup chocolate chips (or raisins for a healthier twist)

1/4 cup powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy using an electric mixer (about 3-4 minutes).

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture, alternating it with the sour cream. Start and end with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

Fold in the chopped nuts and chocolate chips, being careful not to overmix.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Once baked, remove from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Just before serving, dust the top with powdered sugar if desired. Cut into squares and serve!
