Ingredients

4 medium-sized apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

2 tablespoons granulated sugar (or coconut sugar for a healthier option)

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Non-stick cooking spray or parchment paper

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 225°F (110°C). This low temperature will help dehydrate the apples without burning them.

Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly spray it with non-stick cooking spray.

Slice the Apples: Wash the apples thoroughly. Using a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife, slice each apple into thin, even rounds (about 1/8 inch thick). If you have a corer, remove the core to create nice ring shapes.

Mix Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and sea salt. Mix well to ensure an even distribution of flavors.

Coat the Apple Slices: Lay the apple slices out on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer, ensuring they do not overlap. Use a pastry brush to lightly coat both sides of each slice with the cinnamon sugar mixture.

Bake the Apple Chips: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the apples are dry and crispy. Flip the slices halfway through the baking time for evenness.

Cool and Crisp: Once baked, remove the chips from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.

Store: Once completely cooled, store your baked cinnamon apple chips in an airtight container at room temperature. Enjoy them as a snack, in salads, or as a topping for yogurt and oatmeal!
