Ingredients

3 medium-sized apples (such as Fuji or Honeycrisp)

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon lemon juice

Pinch of salt

Cooking spray or parchment paper (for baking)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 200°F (93°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or lightly spray them with cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Prepare the Apples: Wash the apples thoroughly. Using a mandoline or a sharp knife, slice the apples into thin rounds, about 1/8 inch thick. If you prefer, you can core the apples before slicing, or leave the cores in for added crunch.

Toss with Flavor: In a medium bowl, mix the granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. In another bowl, toss the apple slices with the lemon juice to prevent browning, then sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the apple slices, ensuring they are well-coated.

Arrange on Baking Sheets: Lay the apple slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets, making sure they do not overlap. This will help them bake evenly and become crisp.

Bake Until Crispy: Place the baking sheets in the preheated oven and bake for 1.5 to 2 hours. After the first hour, check the apple slices and rotate the trays if necessary. They are done when they are dry and crisp but not burnt.

Cool and Store: Once baked, remove the apple chips from the oven and let them cool completely on the trays. They will become even crisper as they cool. Store your baked apple chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
