Ingredients

For the Blackened Fish:

1 lb white fish fillets (such as cod, tilapia, or snapper)

2 teaspoons smoked paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Chipotle-Lime Sauce:

1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt

2 tablespoons mayonnaise

1-2 canned chipotle peppers in adobo sauce (to taste)

1 tablespoon lime juice

1 teaspoon lime zest

Salt to taste

For Assembly:

Small corn or flour tortillas (about 8)

2 cups shredded cabbage (green or red)

Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Lime wedges (for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Chipotle-Lime Sauce: In a mixing bowl, combine the sour cream (or Greek yogurt), mayonnaise, chipotle peppers (chopped finely), lime juice, lime zest, and a pinch of salt. Mix well until smooth. Adjust the spice levels by adding more chipotle if desired. Set aside.

Season the Fish: In a small bowl, mix together the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Pat the fish fillets dry with a paper towel, then rub the spice mixture generously over both sides of the fillets.

Cook the Fish: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully place the seasoned fish fillets into the skillet. Cook for about 3–4 minutes on each side, or until the fish is blackened and cooked through flakes easily with a fork. Remove from heat and allow to rest briefly.

Warm the Tortillas: In a separate skillet or directly over a gas flame, warm the tortillas for about 30 seconds on each side until they are pliable and slightly golden. Keep them warm by wrapping in a clean kitchen towel.

Assemble the Tacos: On each tortilla, place a generous portion of shredded cabbage, followed by a piece of the blackened fish. Drizzle with the chipotle-lime sauce and garnish with chopped cilantro.

Serve: Squeeze fresh lime juice over the filled tacos, serve with extra lime wedges on the side, and enjoy your Smoky Blackened Fish Tacos!
