Ingredients

1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup toffee bits (such as Heath toffee bits)

1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Mix the Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, melted butter, and eggs. Stir until just combined. The batter will be thick.

Add Flavor: Fold in the chocolate chips, toffee bits, nuts (if using), vanilla extract, and salt until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Spread in Pan: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, and spread it evenly with a spatula, smoothing the top.

Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven, and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs. Be careful not to overbake.

Cool & Serve: Once baked, remove the bars from the oven and allow them to cool in the pan on a wire rack for about 10-15 minutes. If lined with parchment paper, lift the bars out of the pan for complete cooling before slicing.

Dust with Sugar (optional): Once completely cooled, dust the tops with powdered sugar before cutting into squares or bars.

Enjoy: Serve the toffee bars at room temperature, or store them in an airtight container for up to a week.
