Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)

1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded

2 large onions, thinly sliced

2 tbsp butter

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

4 burger buns, toasted

Fresh arugula or lettuce, for topping

Optional: Dijon mustard or your favorite burger sauce

Instructions

Caramelize the Onions:

In a large skillet, heat the butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sprinkle with 1/2 tsp of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 20-25 minutes until the onions are golden brown and caramelized. Reduce heat to low to keep warm.

      Prepare the Beef Mixture:

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and the remaining 1/2 tsp of salt. Mix until just combined; do not overwork the meat.

          Shape the Patties:

Divide the beef mixture into 8 equal portions. Take one portion and flatten it in your palm. Place approximately 2 tbsp of caramelized onions and 2 tbsp of shredded Swiss cheese in the center. Fold the edges of the meat over to encase the filling and form a patty. Repeat with the remaining portions.

              Cook the Patties:

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the stuffed patties for 5-7 minutes per side or until they reach your desired doneness (145°F for medium). If you prefer melted cheese on top, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to let it melt.

                  Assemble the Burgers:

Place the cooked patties on the toasted burger buns. Top with fresh arugula or lettuce, additional caramelized onions if desired, and a drizzle of Dijon mustard or your favorite sauce.

                      Serve and Enjoy:

Serve the burgers hot with your favorite sides like fries or a simple salad.
