1 cup uncooked instant rice

2 cups fresh broccoli florets (or frozen, thawed)

1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup milk

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tablespoon olive oil (if using fresh broccoli)

Optional: 1/2 cup crispy fried onions for topping

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

    Cook the Broccoli: If using fresh broccoli, heat the olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the broccoli florets and sauté for about 5 minutes until slightly tender. If using frozen broccoli, simply thaw and set aside.

      Prepare Rice: In a large mixing bowl, combine the instant rice with 1 cup of boiling water (or follow package instructions) and let it sit covered for about 5 minutes until fluffy.

        Mix Ingredients: In the same mixing bowl, add the cooked broccoli, condensed cream of mushroom soup, shredded cheddar cheese, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Stir until well combined.

          Combine with Rice: Gently fold the cooked rice into the broccoli and cheese mixture until evenly distributed.

            Transfer to Casserole Dish: Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13-inch casserole dish, spreading it out evenly. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.

              Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

                Optional Topping: If desired, during the last 5 minutes of baking, add the crispy fried onions on top for an added crunch.
