1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

2 cups granulated sugar

¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

1 ½ teaspoons baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

½ cup vegetable oil

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

1 cup boiling water

For the Chocolate Ganache:

1 cup heavy cream

8 ounces semi-sweet chocolate, chopped

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

For Decoration:

Chocolate shavings or curls

Fresh berries (raspberries or strawberries)

Edible gold leaf (optional, for a fancy touch)

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

    Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until well blended.

      Add Wet Ingredients: Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix with a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes.

        Incorporate Boiling Water: Carefully stir in the boiling water; the batter will be thin. Ensure everything is well mixed.

          Bake the Cake: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

            Prepare the Ganache: In a small saucepan over medium heat, heat the heavy cream until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat and add the chopped chocolate and butter. Let sit for 5 minutes, then whisk until smooth and glossy.
