Ingredients

2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed

4 cloves garlic, minced

½ cup heavy cream (or coconut milk for a dairy-free option)

3 tablespoons unsalted butter (or vegan butter)

1 teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

Fresh chives or parsley for garnish

Instructions

Boil Sweet Potatoes: In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add the cubed sweet potatoes and a pinch of salt. Cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

Sauté Garlic: While the sweet potatoes are cooking, in a small pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 2-3 minutes. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

Drain Potatoes: Once the sweet potatoes are tender, drain them in a colander and return them to the pot.

Mash the Potatoes: Add the sautéed garlic and melted butter mix to the sweet potatoes. Pour in the heavy cream, and add salt, pepper, and cinnamon (if using). Mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy. You can use a potato masher or a hand mixer for a fluffier texture.

Taste and Adjust: Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. If you prefer a creamier consistency, add more heavy cream until the desired texture is reached.

Serve: Transfer the mashed sweet potatoes to a serving bowl. Garnish with chopped chives or parsley before serving.
