8 oz fettuccine or spaghetti

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

2 tbsp olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

Zest and juice of 1 large lemon

1 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and pepper to taste

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Lemon slices and additional basil for garnish

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the fettuccine or spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

    Sauté the Shrimp: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the shrimp to the skillet, season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using), and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until shrimp is pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

      Make the Creamy Sauce: In the same skillet, lower the heat and pour in the heavy cream. Stir in lemon zest and lemon juice, then bring to a gentle simmer. Let it cook for about 2-3 minutes to slightly thicken.

        Combine: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet along with the sautéed shrimp. Toss everything together to coat the pasta and shrimp in the creamy sauce. If the sauce is too thick, gradually add some reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency.
