Crispy Air Fryer Apple Fries

3 medium-sized firm apples (like Granny Smith or Fuji)

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)

1 tablespoon cinnamon

1 tablespoon sugar

¼ teaspoon salt

Cooking spray or a little olive oil for greasing

Prepare the Apples: Start by washing and peeling the apples. Core them and cut each apple into thin wedges (about 1/4 inch thick) to resemble fries. Pat the wedges dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

    Set Up Breading Stations: In one bowl, add the all-purpose flour. In a second bowl, whisk together the eggs and vanilla extract until well combined. In a third bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, cinnamon, sugar, and salt.

      Coat the Apple Fries: Take each apple wedge and dip it first in the flour, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Shake off any excess flour. Next, dip it into the egg mixture, allowing the excess to drip off, and finally coat it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.

        Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.

          Arrange in the Air Fryer: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the coated apple fries in a single layer, making sure they don’t overlap. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.

            Air Fry the Apple Fries: Air fry the apple wedges for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through and spraying with a bit more oil if desired. They should be golden brown and crispy on the outside.
