Crispy Air Fryer Chicken Tenders with Dipping Sauce

For the Chicken Tenders:

1 lb chicken breast tenders

1 cup buttermilk

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

Cooking spray (or olive oil spray)

For the Dipping Sauce:

1/2 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon honey

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

Marinate the Chicken:

    - In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

      - Add the chicken tenders to the buttermilk marinade, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for maximum flavor).

        Prepare the Breading Station:

          - In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using).

            - In another shallow dish, place the panko breadcrumbs.

              - Line up the dishes to create a breading station: buttermilk marinade → flour mixture → panko breadcrumbs.

                Bread the Chicken:

                  - Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).

                    - Take each chicken tender out of the buttermilk marinade, allowing excess liquid to drip off. Dredge in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess, and then press into the panko breadcrumbs until evenly coated.

                      - Place the breaded tenders on a plate or wire rack, and repeat until all chicken tenders are breaded.

                        Air Fry the Chicken:

                          - Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Arrange the chicken tenders in a single layer, making sure not to overcrowd the basket (you may need to do this in batches).

                            - Lightly spray the tops of the tenders with cooking spray.

                              - Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 75°C).

                                Prepare the Dipping Sauce:

                                  - In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, honey, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste.
