Ingredients

For the Chicken Tenders:

1 pound chicken breast tenders

1 cup buttermilk

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko works best for extra crispiness)

Cooking spray or olive oil spray

For the Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce:

1/4 cup Dijon mustard

1/4 cup honey

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken:

In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken tenders and ensure they are fully submerged in the buttermilk mixture. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for maximum flavor).

      Prepare the Breading:

Set up a breading station. In one shallow dish, place the flour. In a second shallow dish, pour the breadcrumbs.

          Coat the Chicken:

Remove the chicken from the refrigerator. Allow the excess buttermilk to drip off before dredging each tender in flour, shaking off any excess. Then, dip the floured tenders back in the buttermilk and finally coat them with breadcrumbs, pressing down to ensure the breadcrumbs adhere well.

              Preheat the Air Fryer:

Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.

                  Air Fry the Chicken Tenders:

Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the chicken tenders in a single layer in the basket, making sure they do not touch each other. Lightly spray the tops of the tenders with olive oil spray to encourage crispiness. Air fry for about 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F / 74°C).

                      Make the Honey Mustard Sauce:

In a small bowl, whisk together the Dijon mustard, honey, apple cider vinegar, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Adjust seasoning to your taste.

                          Serve:

Once the chicken tenders are crispy and cooked, carefully remove them from the air fryer and let them rest for a couple of minutes. Serve hot with the homemade honey mustard dipping sauce on the side.
