Ingredients

2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)

1/2 cup apple cider vinegar

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon chili powder (optional, for extra heat)

1 tablespoon olive oil

1/2 cup chicken broth (or water, if preferred)

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken: Rinse the chicken breasts under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Place them in the bottom of the crock pot.

Combine the Sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, honey, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and chili powder (if using).

Layer the Ingredients: Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken breasts in the crock pot. Use a spoon to ensure the chicken is well coated.

Add Liquid: Pour the chicken broth (or water) around the chicken, being careful not to wash off the sauce. This helps to create a moist cooking environment.

Set the Crock Pot: Cover the crock pot with its lid and set it to low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours. The longer cooking time on low will make the chicken even more tender.

Shred the Chicken: Once cooking time is complete, remove the chicken breasts from the crock pot and place them on a cutting board. Use two forks to shred the chicken into bite-sized pieces.

Mix in the Sauce: Return the shredded chicken to the crock pot, stirring it into the remaining sauce for extra flavor. Let it simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes on low to absorb the flavors.

Serve: Enjoy the BBQ chicken on its own, or serve on toasted buns as sliders, alongside coleslaw, or with your favorite side dishes.
