Ingredients

1 cup dill pickle slices (thick cut)

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup cornmeal

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

2 large eggs

1 tablespoon water

Cooking spray or olive oil for spraying

Instructions

Prep the Pickles: Begin by patting the pickle slices dry with paper towels. This step is crucial to ensure they become crispy in the air fryer.

Set Up Your Breading Station: In three separate bowls, prepare:

      - Bowl 1: Place the all-purpose flour.

        - Bowl 2: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and water until well combined.

          - Bowl 3: Combine cornmeal, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.

            Coat the Pickle Slices:

              - First, dip each pickle slice into the flour, ensuring it’s fully coated.

                - Next, transfer it to the egg mixture, letting any excess drip off.

                  - Finally, dredge the slice in the cornmeal mixture. Press gently to ensure the coating sticks well.

Pre-Bake the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes. This helps achieve that perfect crunch!

Arrange the Chips: Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the coated pickle chips in a single layer, ensuring they don’t touch. You may need to do this in batches depending on how large your air fryer is.

Air Fry the Pickles: Spritz the top of the pickle chips lightly with cooking spray. Air fry for approximately 10-12 minutes or until golden and crispy, flipping halfway through to ensure even cooking.

Cool and Serve: Once done, carefully remove the pickle chips from the air fryer. Let them cool for a few minutes before serving to allow them to crisp up even more.

Dip It Right: Serve these crunchy pickle chips with your favorite dipping sauce - ranch dressing or a spicy aioli work wonderfully!
