2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 cup packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

2 large eggs

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Flaky sea salt for sprinkling

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    Combine Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. Set aside.

      Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, using a hand mixer or a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt together on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

        Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract until fully combined.

          Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

            Fold in Chocolate Chips and Nuts: Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts (if using) using a spatula until evenly distributed.

              Scoop Dough: Using a cookie scoop or two tablespoons, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

                Sprinkle with Sea Salt: Lightly sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt on top of each cookie dough ball for an extra touch of flavor.
