Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped

1 1/4 cups granulated sugar

3 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 tsp salt

1 cup dulce de leche (store-bought or homemade)

Sea salt flakes for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.

Melt the butter and chocolate: In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the chopped chocolate and butter. Stir constantly until both are melted and smooth, then remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Mix sugar and eggs: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and the eggs until well combined. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Combine chocolate mixture: Slowly pour the slightly cooled chocolate and butter mixture into the sugar and egg mixture, stirring continuously until fully incorporated.

Add dry ingredients: Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt to the wet ingredients. Gently fold everything together until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Transfer half the batter: Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan, smoothing it into an even layer.

Layer dulce de leche: Spoon dollops of the dulce de leche over the brownie layer. Use a knife or a skewer to swirl it into the batter, creating a marbled effect.

Add remaining batter: Carefully spread the remaining brownie batter on top of the dulce de leche layer, making sure to cover it completely.

Final swirl: Use a knife to create a few more swirls with the dulce de leche on top of the brownies, adding texture and visual appeal.

Bake the brownies: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the edges look set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Cool and cut: Remove from the oven and allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes. Use the parchment overhang to lift the brownies out of the pan, then cut into squares.

Garnish: If desired, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt flakes on top of each brownie for an added flavor boost.
