Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup ketchup

1/4 cup barbecue sauce

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp mustard

1/2 tsp smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

4 slices of cheddar cheese

4 hamburger buns

2 tbsp olive oil

Pickles and lettuce for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Add Aromatics: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the beef. Sauté until the onion is soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

Make the Sauce: In a bowl, mix together ketchup, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture into the skillet with the beef and onion. Stir well to combine.

Simmer: Let the mixture simmer on low heat for about 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together and the sauce to thicken slightly.

Cheesy Finish: Place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of the beef mixture and cover the skillet for 1-2 minutes, allowing the cheese to melt.

Toast the Buns: While the cheese is melting, you can toast the hamburger buns on a separate pan over medium heat until golden brown.

Assemble the Sloppy Joes: Spoon a generous amount of the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each toasted bun. Add pickles and lettuce if desired, then top with the other half of the bun.

Serve: Serve immediately while hot, and enjoy your Easy Cheeseburger Sloppy Joes!
