Ingredients

1 lb (450g) store-bought gnocchi

2 cups marinara sauce (preferably homemade or your favorite jarred variety)

1 cup ricotta cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 – 2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (oregano, basil, thyme)

2 tablespoons olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Prepare the Gnocchi: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the gnocchi and cook according to package instructions, usually about 2-3 minutes or until they float to the top. Drain and set aside.

Create the Sauce Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, minced garlic, and dried Italian herbs. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and mix well until fully combined.

Combine Gnocchi and Sauce: Gently fold the cooked gnocchi into the sauce mixture until they are evenly coated.

Layer the Casserole: In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spread half of the gnocchi and sauce mixture. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese over the top. Pour the remaining gnocchi mixture on top, then finish with the rest of the mozzarella and the grated Parmesan cheese.

Add the Olive Oil: Drizzle the olive oil over the top of the casserole to help brown the cheese.

Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Garnish and Serve: Once out of the oven, let it sit for 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired, then scoop and serve warm.
