1 pound large sea scallops

Salt and pepper, to taste

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Lemon wedges, for serving

Prep the Scallops: Pat the scallops dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper to taste. This step helps to achieve a nice sear.

    Melt the Butter: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Allow it to slightly bubble and foam but do not let it brown.

      Sear the Scallops: Once the butter is hot, carefully place the scallops in the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd. Sear the scallops for about 2-3 minutes on one side until they are golden brown. Flip them over gently.

        Add Garlic: After flipping the scallops, add the minced garlic to the skillet. Continue to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the scallops are opaque and cooked through, and the garlic is fragrant but not burnt.

          Finish the Dish: Remove the skillet from heat. Drizzle the lemon juice over the scallops and sprinkle with chopped parsley. Gently toss the scallops in the buttery garlic sauce to coat.

            Serve: Plate the scallops and spoon the buttery garlic sauce over them. Serve with lemon wedges on the side for an extra tang.
