Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

½ teaspoon baking powder

¼ teaspoon salt

1 cup chopped pecans

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.

Add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.

Fold in the chopped pecans and chocolate chips into the batter until evenly distributed.

Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 15 minutes, just until set but not browned.

Remove from the oven and drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the partially baked layer. Then, carefully spread the remaining batter on top.

Drizzle the rest of the caramel sauce over the top layer of batter, ensuring it covers as much of the surface as possible.

Sprinkle a few extra pecans and chocolate chips on top for added texture and flavor.

Return to the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean (if you hit a chocolate chip, it’s okay!).

Allow to cool in the pan on a wire rack for about 15 minutes. Use the parchment paper to lift them out for easier cutting.

Once cooled completely, cut into bars and serve.
