Ingredients

For the Cheesecake Filling:

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup strawberries, finely chopped

For the Sandwiches:

8 slices of thick bread (such as brioche or Texas toast)

1 egg

1/2 cup milk

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional for extra crunch)

Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Additional powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

Prepare the Cheesecake Filling: In a mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold in the finely chopped strawberries. Set aside.

Assemble the Sandwiches: Lay out four slices of bread and spread a generous amount of the cheesecake filling on each. Top with the remaining bread slices to form sandwiches.

Prepare the Breading Station: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the egg and milk until combined. In another bowl, mix the flour and cinnamon together.

Coat the Sandwiches: Dip each assembled sandwich into the flour mixture, ensuring both sides are well-coated. Then, dip it into the egg and milk mixture, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat it with breadcrumbs if desired, pressing gently to adhere.

Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or deep frying pan, heat about 1-2 inches of oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Fry the Sandwiches: Carefully add the sandwiches to the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Fry each sandwich for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.

Drain and Cool: Once fried, use a slotted spatula to remove the sandwiches from the oil, placing them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serve: Dust with powdered sugar before serving. Optionally, serve with a side of fresh strawberries or a drizzle of chocolate sauce for extra sweetness.
