Ingredients

1 lb fresh asparagus, trimmed

3 tbsp unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tbsp olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tbsp lemon juice (optional)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a large mixing bowl, toss the trimmed asparagus with olive oil, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.

Spread the asparagus in a single layer on a baking sheet.

Bake for about 10-12 minutes, until just tender.

While the asparagus is roasting, prepare the garlic butter: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to let it brown.

Remove the asparagus from the oven and drizzle the garlic butter over it, making sure to coat the spears evenly.

Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the top of the asparagus.

Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and slightly golden.

If using, drizzle lemon juice over the finished dish for a touch of brightness.

Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
