12 oz fresh mozzarella cheese sticks (cut into halves)

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 tablespoon water

1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (basil, oregano, etc.)

1/2 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Vegetable oil for frying

Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Prep the Cheese: Place the mozzarella sticks in the freezer for about 30 minutes. This will help them hold their shape when frying.

    Set Up Breading Station: In one shallow dish, place the flour. In a second dish, whisk together the eggs and water until well combined. In a third shallow dish, combine the seasoned breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, Italian herbs, paprika, salt, and pepper.

      Bread the Cheese: Remove the mozzarella sticks from the freezer. Dip each stick in the flour, covering it completely, then shake off the excess. Next, dip it into the egg mixture, allowing the excess to drip off, and finally coat it thoroughly with the breadcrumb mixture. Press gently to ensure the breadcrumbs adhere well.

        Double Dipping (Optional): For an extra crunch, you can repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps to double-coat the sticks.

          Heat the Oil: In a deep frying pan or pot, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). To test if the oil is hot enough, drop in a small piece of bread; it should sizzle immediately.

            Fry the Mozzarella Sticks: Carefully add a few mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, being cautious not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to turn them halfway through for even cooking.
