Ingredients

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast

1 tsp sugar

1 tsp salt

¾ cup warm water (about 110°F)

2 tbsp olive oil

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp dried oregano

1 tsp dried basil

1 egg (for egg wash)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.

Mix until a dough begins to form. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm area for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle, about ½ inch thick.

Cut the dough into strips about 1 inch wide. Place on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each stick.

In a small bowl, combine the minced garlic, oregano, and basil. Mix with the cheeses and sprinkle generously over the dough strips.

Beat the egg and brush it over the breadsticks for a shiny finish.

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.

Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve warm with marinara or your favorite dipping sauce.
