Ingredients

1 cup yellow cornmeal

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 cup milk

1 large egg

2 tablespoons melted butter

10 hot dogs, cut in half

Cooking spray

Honey or ketchup for serving (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes. This will help achieve that golden and crispy texture.

Prepare the batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Mix until well combined.

Add wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter. Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, whisking until smooth and free of lumps.

Coat the hot dogs: Insert a toothpick or skewer into each half hot dog. This will make it easier to dip and fry.

Dip the hot dogs: Dip each hot dog into the cornmeal batter, ensuring they are fully coated. Allow any excess batter to drip off.

Arrange in the air fryer: Spray the air fryer basket lightly with cooking spray. Place the coated hot dogs in a single layer, ensuring they are not touching. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.

Air fry: Cook in the air fryer for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.

Serve: Once done, remove from the air fryer and let them cool slightly. Serve with honey or ketchup for dipping, if desired.
