Ingredients

1 package King's Hawaiian Sweet Bread Rolls (12 rolls)

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

1/2 cup fresh pineapple, finely chopped (or canned, drained)

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

1/4 cup sliced almonds (optional, for topping)

2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar (mix of granulated sugar and cinnamon)

Whipped cream (for serving, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice. Use an electric mixer or whisk to beat until smooth and creamy. Stir in the chopped pineapple until evenly mixed.

Shape the Rolls: Carefully separate the King's Hawaiian rolls. Using a sharp knife or kitchen scissors, cut an X into the top of each roll, making sure not to cut all the way through the bottom (this creates a pocket).

Fill the Rolls: Gently pull apart the cut sections of each roll to create a small opening. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture into the center of each roll. Press the edges slightly together to seal the filling inside.

Apply Egg Wash: Brush the tops of each filled roll with the beaten egg to give them a beautiful golden color when baked. If desired, sprinkle sliced almonds on top for added crunch.

Sprinkle with Cinnamon Sugar: Generously sprinkle cinnamon sugar over each roll, ensuring an even coating for that added sweet touch.

Bake: Place the filled rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the rolls are puffed up and golden brown.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Serve warm, optionally topped with a dollop of whipped cream for an extra touch of indulgence.
