To fully appreciate the Mini Big Mac Cheeseburgers, it’s important to understand the history of the Big Mac itself. The Big Mac was first introduced by the McDonald’s franchise in 1968 and quickly became a cultural icon of fast food. Created by Jim Delligatti, a franchise owner in Pennsylvania, the Big Mac was designed to offer customers a more substantial meal option. With its two beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions, all sandwiched between a sesame seed bun, the Big Mac has since become one of the most recognizable and enduring items on the fast-food menu.

Ingredients

1 lb (450g) ground beef

1/4 tsp onion powder

1/4 tsp garlic powder

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

8 mini hamburger buns (sliders)

8 slices cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded lettuce

1/2 cup diced pickles

1/3 cup mayonnaise

2 tbsp yellow mustard

2 tbsp ketchup

2 tbsp sweet pickle relish

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Beef Patties: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Divide the meat into 8 equal portions and shape them into small patties that are slightly larger than the buns, as they'll shrink while cooking.

Cook the Patties: Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Continue to cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patties are cooked through.

Toast the Buns: While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the mini buns on the grill or in a separate skillet until golden brown.

Make the Special Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, yellow mustard, ketchup, and sweet pickle relish to create a creamy sauce. Adjust the ingredients to taste if desired.

Assemble the Sliders: On the bottom half of each bun, spread a teaspoon of the special sauce. Place a cooked patty on top, followed by a sprinkle of shredded lettuce and a few diced pickles. Cap it with the top half of the bun. If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds on top for an authentic touch.

Serve: Arrange the mini cheeseburgers on a platter and serve with additional pickles, fries, or your favorite dipping sauces on the side. Enjoy!
