Ingredients

1 lb ground beef or ground turkey

1 large onion, diced

1 large green bell pepper, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

1 cup beef broth

4 ounces cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup provolone cheese, shredded

1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded (optional)

4-6 hamburger buns

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Heat the skillet: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef (or turkey). Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Drain excess grease if necessary.

Sauté vegetables: Add the diced onion and green bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for about 5 minutes or until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

Add seasoning: Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well to combine.

Make it saucy: Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a simmer. Let it cook for about 5 minutes to reduce the broth slightly.

Incorporate cream cheese: Lower the heat and stir in the softened cream cheese until fully melted and integrated into the mixture, creating a creamy sauce.

Cheesy goodness: Once the mixture is creamy, fold in the provolone cheese until melted. If you prefer an extra cheesy filling, feel free to add the shredded cheddar cheese as well!

Toast the buns: While the filling is simmering, preheat your oven to broil. Slice the hamburger buns in half, place them on a baking sheet, and toast them under the broiler for 1-2 minutes until golden.

Assemble your Sloppy Joes: Spoon a generous amount of the Philly cheesesteak filling onto the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with the other half of the bun.

Serve and garnish: Cut the Sloppy Joes in half for easier handling. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot!
