Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup brown sugar, packed

½ cup granulated sugar

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 large egg

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

1 tsp ground cinnamon

½ tsp ground nutmeg

½ cup canned pumpkin puree

1 cup chocolate chips (semisweet or dark)

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.

Prepare Wet Ingredients: In a separate large bowl, mix the melted butter, vanilla extract, and egg until smooth. Then stir in the pumpkin puree until fully incorporated.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix, as you want to keep a gooey texture.

Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the center is set and a toothpick inserted comes out slightly moist (not wet).

Cool and Slice: Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, slice into squares.

Serve: Enjoy your Pumpkin Gooey Bars warm or at room temperature. They can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
