Ingredients

1 pound (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided

4 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

1 red bell pepper, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon ginger, minced

1/4 cup beef broth

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon sesame oil

Cooked jasmine rice or noodles, for serving

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced flank steak with soy sauce and cornstarch. Toss to coat evenly and set aside for 10 minutes to marinate.

Prepare the Vegetables: While the beef is marinating, wash and chop the broccoli florets and slice the red bell pepper.

Cook the Broccoli: In a large non-stick skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli and cook for about 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently until bright green and slightly tender. Remove the broccoli from the skillet and set aside.

Stir-Fry the Beef: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the marinated beef in a single layer (you may need to do this in batches) and cook for 2-3 minutes without stirring, allowing it to sear and brown.

Add Aromatics: Once the beef is browned, push it to the side of the skillet. Add the minced garlic and ginger to the empty space, stirring them quickly for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Combine and Sauce It Up: Return the broccoli to the skillet and add the red bell pepper. Pour in the beef broth and oyster sauce, stirring everything to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.

Finish with Sesame Oil: Drizzle sesame oil over the stir-fry and give it one final stir to ensure everything is coated beautifully.

Serve: Spoon over cooked jasmine rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions for a pop of flavor and color.
