Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch ginger, grated

3 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium)

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for cooking)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Steamed jasmine rice (for serving)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

Prep the Beef: In a medium bowl, combine sliced flank steak with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Toss until the beef is well-coated, then let it marinate while you prepare the vegetables.

Blanch the Broccoli: In a pot of boiling water, blanch the broccoli florets for about 1-2 minutes until vibrant green and slightly tender. Quickly transfer to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking. Drain and set aside.

Stir-Fry the Beef: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over high heat. When hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

Cook the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Stir in minced garlic, grated ginger, and red bell pepper. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the pepper is tender-crisp.

Combine Everything: Return the beef to the skillet. Add the blanched broccoli, remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir-fry everything together for another 2-3 minutes, ensuring all ingredients are well incorporated and heated through.

Serve: Plate the stir-fry over a bed of steamed jasmine rice. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for added crunch and flavor.
