Ingredients

1 cup cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Sea salt flakes, for topping

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper and set them aside.

Cream the Base: In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and butter until creamy and smooth using an electric mixer.

Add Sugars & Egg: Mix in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined. Then add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until the batter is light and fluffy.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Incorporate Caramel: Fold in the caramel sauce, making sure to leave some swirls for a marbled effect. If you like extra texture, add chocolate chips at this stage.

Scoop the Dough: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop generous portions of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Create a Well: With a spoon or your finger, create a small well in the center of each cookie dough ball. This ensures the caramel pools beautifully atop the cookie.

Bake: Place the cookies in the preheated oven and bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. They may look slightly underbaked in the center, which is perfect!

Add Sea Salt: Immediately after removing them from the oven, drizzle a teaspoon of caramel sauce into the well you created earlier, then sprinkle a pinch of sea salt flakes over each cookie for that delightful sweet and salty contrast.

Cool Down: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
