Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

1 lb ground turkey

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

For the Marinara Sauce:

1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes

1 tablespoon olive oil

1/2 onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon sugar (optional, to balance acidity)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Meatball Mixture:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, oregano, basil, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined—do not overmix to keep the meatballs tender.

      Form the Meatballs:

Use your hands to scoop out portions of the mixture (about 2 tablespoons each) and roll them into balls. Place them on a parchment-lined plate or tray as you form them.

          Preheat the Air Fryer:

Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.

              Air Fry the Meatballs:

Once preheated, arrange the meatballs in a single layer in the air fryer basket (you may need to cook them in batches depending on the size of your air fryer). Cook at 400°F for 12-15 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F).

                  Prepare the Marinara Sauce:

While the meatballs are cooking, heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion until translucent (about 3-4 minutes). Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

                      Combine Ingredients:

Add the crushed tomatoes, oregano, and sugar (if using) to the saucepan. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

                          Serve:

Once the meatballs are done, transfer them to the marinara sauce and gently coat them. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves if desired. Pair with spaghetti, zucchini noodles, or enjoy them on their own!
