Shrimp, often regarded as a seafood delicacy, is not just a treat for the taste buds but also a boon for health enthusiasts. These tiny crustaceans are exceptionally high in protein, making them an excellent choice for those looking to maintain or build muscle mass without consuming excessive calories. A typical serving of shrimp provides a substantial amount of selenium, a mineral that plays a crucial role in metabolism and immune function, and vitamin B12, which is vital for red blood cell formation and neurological function.

Ingredients

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 lb asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-3 inch pieces

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp paprika (smoked or sweet)

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Juice of 1 lemon (plus wedges for serving)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large sheet pan with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Prepare the Shrimp Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the peeled and deveined shrimp with melted butter, minced garlic, paprika, red pepper flakes (if using), and a pinch of salt and pepper. Toss well to coat the shrimp evenly.

Prepare the Asparagus: In a separate bowl, drizzle the trimmed asparagus with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Toss to ensure even coating.

Arrange on the Sheet Pan: Spread the shrimp mixture on one side of the sheet pan. On the other side, arrange the asparagus spears in a single layer.

Bake: Place the sheet pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink and cooked through, and the asparagus is tender but still crisp.

Add Lemon Juice: Remove the sheet pan from the oven and drizzle freshly squeezed lemon juice over the shrimp and asparagus.

Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over the top for added flavor and freshness. Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.
