Smash Burger Tacos

1 lb ground beef (preferably 80/20 blend)

8 small flour tortillas

1 cup shredded lettuce

1 cup diced tomatoes

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup pickled jalapeños (optional)

1/4 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons ketchup

1 tablespoon mustard

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)

Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Set aside.

    Make the Beef Patties: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Form the beef into 4 equal balls (about 4 oz each).

      Heat the Griddle or Skillet: Preheat a large griddle or skillet over medium-high heat. You want it hot enough to create a nice crust on the meat.

        Smash the Patties: Once the pan is hot, place the beef balls onto the griddle. Using a sturdy spatula or a burger press, smash each ball flat onto the griddle. Cook for about 2-3 minutes without moving them to develop a good crust.

          Flip and Finish Cooking: After 2-3 minutes, flip the patties and add a sprinkle of cheese on top. Cook for another 2 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the beef is cooked to your liking.

            Warm the Tortillas: While the patties finish cooking, warm the tortillas on a different skillet or in the microwave wrapped in a damp towel.

              Assemble the Tacos: On each tortilla, place a smash burger patty, followed by shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, more cheese if desired, and pickled jalapeños.

                Add the Sauce: Drizzle or dollop the prepared sauce over the toppings. Sprinkle with fresh cilantro if using.

                  Serve: Fold the tacos over and serve immediately while hot, enjoying the fusion of flavors.
