Ingredients

2 racks of baby back ribs (about 4 pounds)

1 cup hoisin sauce

1/4 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup rice vinegar

1/4 cup honey

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

2 tablespoons sesame oil

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for spice level)

1 teaspoon five-spice powder

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

1/4 cup chopped green onions (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat Your Oven: Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).

Prepare the Ribs: Remove the silver skin from the back of the ribs for better tenderness. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.

Make the Marinade: In a mixing bowl, combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, minced garlic, minced ginger, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, five-spice powder, and black pepper. Whisk until well combined.

Marinate the Ribs: Place the ribs in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the ribs, making sure they are coated evenly. Seal the bag or cover the dish and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

Bake the Ribs: Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup and place a wire rack on top. Remove the ribs from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and place them on the wire rack. Bake the ribs in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, until they are tender and the meat is nearly falling off the bone.

Prepare the Glaze: While the ribs are baking, pour the reserved marinade into a small saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.

Broil the Ribs for a Sticky Finish: Once the ribs are done baking, remove them from the oven and preheat your broiler. Brush the thickened marinade generously over the ribs. Broil them for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until caramelized and sticky. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.

Garnish and Serve: Remove the ribs from the broiler and let them rest for a few minutes. Slice between the bones to separate the ribs, then sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot and enjoy!
