Ingredients

For the Brownie Layer:

½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted

1 cup (200g) granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder

½ cup (65g) all-purpose flour

¼ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon baking powder

1 cup (175g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Cookie Layer:

½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened

¾ cup (150g) brown sugar, packed

¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour

½ teaspoon baking soda

¼ teaspoon salt

1 cup (175g) chocolate chips (milk or dark, your choice)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch (23x33 cm) baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

    Make the Brownie Layer:

      - In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined.

        - Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.

          - In another bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually fold this dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined. Finally, fold in the chocolate chips.

            - Spread the brownie batter evenly in the prepared baking pan.

              Make the Cookie Layer:

                - In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

                  - Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.

                    - In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips.

                      - Scoop spoonfuls of the cookie dough and drop it over the brownie layer in the baking pan. Use a spatula to gently spread the cookie layer as evenly as possible.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges of the browkies are set but the center is still slightly gooey; a toothpick inserted into the center should come out with moist crumbs.

Cool and Serve: Allow the browkies to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and enjoy your decadent fudgey chewy browkies!
