Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup warm milk (about 110°F/43°C)

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs, room temperature

1 tablespoon honey (optional, for added sweetness)

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, for brushing on top

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and instant yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.

Mix the Wet Ingredients: Add melted butter, eggs, and honey (if using) to the yeast mixture. Whisk until well combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, mix together the flour and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until a sticky dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. If dough is too sticky, sprinkle a little more flour as needed.

First Rise: Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until it doubles in size.

Shape the Rolls: Once risen, punch down the dough to release air. Divide the dough into 12-14 equal portions. Roll each portion into a smooth ball and place them into a greased baking dish, spacing them slightly apart.

Second Rise: Cover the shaped rolls with a cloth and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes, until they puff up.

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) during the last 15 minutes of the second rising.

Bake: Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown on top.

Brush with Butter: Remove from the oven and immediately brush the tops with melted butter for a shiny finish and added flavor.

Cool and Serve: Allow the rolls to cool for a few minutes before serving warm. Enjoy them plain or with your favorite spread!
