When it comes to creating the ideal cheeseburger sliders, the foundation starts with the beef. The choice of ground beef is crucial, as it directly impacts the flavor and juiciness of the patties. For the best results, opt for ground beef with a fat content of around 80% lean and 20% fat. This ratio strikes the perfect balance, providing enough fat to keep the patties moist while still allowing for a rich, beefy flavor.

Ingredients

For the Sliders:

1 lb (450g) ground beef (80% lean)

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp smoked paprika

Salt and pepper, to taste

8 slider buns

8 slices of sharp cheddar cheese

4 slices of crispy bacon, crumbled

½ cup dill pickles, sliced

½ cup lettuce, shredded

½ cup tomatoes, diced

¼ cup mayonnaise

¼ cup ketchup

1 tbsp mustard

Optional: 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

For the Sauce:

¼ cup mayo

2 tbsp ketchup

1 tsp mustard

1 tsp pickle relish

Salt, to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Beef Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix well, but avoid overworking the meat.

Form the Sliders: Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and form them into patties. Make them slightly larger than the slider buns, as they will shrink while cooking.

Heat the Grill/Pan: Preheat your grill or a large skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you can add a splash of oil to prevent sticking.

Cook the Patties: Place the patties on the grill/pan and cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side without moving them. Flip the sliders and immediately place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).

Prepare the Sauce: While the patties are cooking, mix together the mayo, ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, and a pinch of salt in a bowl. This will be your special sauce!

Assemble the Sliders: Cut the slider buns in half. Spread a layer of the special sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Add shredded lettuce, a cheeseburger patty, crispy bacon, dill pickles, and diced tomatoes. Top with the other half of the bun.

Serve: Arrange the sliders on a platter and serve immediately with extra sauce on the side for dipping!
