Ingredients

1 large wheel of Brie cheese (about 14 oz)

2 medium apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and thinly sliced

1 cup pecans, chopped

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup maple syrup

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed)

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

Fresh thyme sprigs (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Apple Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, chopped pecans, brown sugar, maple syrup, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and lemon juice. Toss everything together until the apples are well-coated.

Prepare the Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to fit a 9-inch round baking dish or casserole. You can also cut it into smaller squares if you prefer a more rustic look. Make sure it’s large enough to cover the sides of the dish.

Layer the Ingredients: Place the Brie cheese in the center of the baking dish. Spoon the apple-pecan mixture generously over and around the Brie, ensuring it is well-distributed.

Top with Puff Pastry: Drape the puff pastry over the filled baking dish, pinching the edges to seal in the filling. Trim off any excess pastry if necessary. Cut a few slits in the top of the pastry to allow steam to escape.

Egg Wash: Brush the top of the pastry with the beaten egg to give it a golden color when baked.

Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed up.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for about 5-10 minutes. Garnish with fresh thyme sprigs if desired, and serve warm with toasted bread or crackers.

Enjoy your delicious and gooey Warm Apple Pecan Brie Casserole!
